Largo is powered by WordPress, by far the most popular website content management system worldwide. If you have experience using WordPress to publish blog posts or news stories, you’ll be very comfortable with Largo.
Largo builds on WordPress by adding some features useful for presenting news. This is mostly about organizing content to match the needs of news organizations and the interests of users. For example:
- Stories are grouped by subject using top-level Categories and more granular Tags.
- You can create a special Series on any topic with its own landing page.
- You can make a post stand out on the homepage by assigning it to a Post Prominence like Homepage Featured.
There’s a lot more, but don’t worry – we will cover everything that you need to know in this guide. We suggest you read through it while working hands-on with your Largo staging site. (Ask your site administrator if you don’t have access to it yet.)
We’ve also assembled a number of other resources for Largo users:
The Knowledge Base is searchable and you may find the answer to a specific question there. You can participate in the Community Forums to ask questions of fellow Largo users, or contribute something back to the community. The Support team is always available if you run into a problem or get stuck. We also host Office Hours each Friday from 2 to 3 pm Eastern, and you can reserve a 20-minute slot to work with us on just about anything related to Largo and online news. We provide these resources to help you do great work.
Let’s get started!
